Comprehensive Nutrition Evaluation

When the bigger picture matters

Comprehensive Nutrition Evaluation

And sometimes you have a whole pile of symptoms, lab results, diagnoses, supplements, dietary changes, and unanswered questions that don’t seem to fit neatly into one category.

That’s when stepping back can be more useful than zooming in.

The Comprehensive Nutrition Evaluation gives us the space to look at the bigger picture, identify patterns, and figure out what actually deserves attention.

You don’t have to know exactly what you need before you start

You may know something isn’t right, but not know whether the place to start is your nutrition, digestion, energy, nutrient status, hormone levels, lifestyle, or something else entirely.

Bring me what you know, what you’ve experienced, and what you’ve already tried. We’ll organize the pieces together and figure out where it makes sense to focus.

That’s part of my job.

We’ll start with your story and the information you already have. From there, we’ll look at your nutrition, health history, symptoms, lifestyle, existing labs, supplements, and other relevant factors to identify patterns and priorities.

The goal isn’t to find something wrong with every system in your body.

It’s to figure out what matters most right now.

Looking at the pieces together

Your symptoms don’t exist in a vacuum.

A digestive concern may overlap with nutrition. Nutrition may overlap with energy. Your diet may be influenced by symptoms, food reactions, lifestyle, or previous recommendations. And sometimes the most important piece is something you weren’t even thinking about when you booked the appointment.

We’ll look at those connections without assuming that everything is connected or that there is one hidden explanation for everything.

Sometimes the answer is a nutritional gap.

Sometimes your existing information already gives us enough to make a useful next move.

Sometimes we need more information.

And sometimes the most appropriate next step is back to your physician or another member of your healthcare team.

What we’ll look at

Your evaluation is individualized, but may include:

  • Your health and nutrition history
  • Current symptoms and concerns
  • Food intake and eating patterns
  • Digestive health
  • Lifestyle and environmental factors
  • Relevant health history
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Existing laboratory and functional testing
  • Previous interventions and your response to them
  • Nutritional adequacy and potential areas of need
  • Priorities for nutrition and lifestyle support

You don’t need to have all the answers before we begin.

We’ll organize the information together and determine where it makes sense to focus.

What about labs?

Labs can be useful, but they aren’t automatically the next step.

If you already have laboratory testing, we’ll consider it as part of the larger picture rather than looking at individual numbers in isolation.

If additional testing could answer an important question, clarify a pattern, or help guide your next step, we can discuss whether it makes sense.

That might mean conventional laboratory testing, functional testing, or no additional testing at all.

Testing should serve the process, not become the process.

And if something needs medical interpretation, diagnosis, or treatment, I’ll direct you back to the appropriate healthcare provider.

What happens after your evaluation?

The evaluation is the beginning of the process, not necessarily the entire process.

After we’ve had time to assess your information, we’ll identify your priorities and develop practical next steps.

Depending on what we uncover, that may mean:

01

A focused plan you can implement on your own.

You may simply need clarity about what to work on first.

02

Ongoing nutrition support.

If you would benefit from help implementing and adjusting the plan, we can continue working together through follow-up care.

03

Additional investigation.

If there are unanswered questions, we can determine whether additional testing or information would actually help.

04

A different direction.

Sometimes the most useful recommendation is to involve another practitioner or address something outside my scope.

The point isn’t to keep you in a program indefinitely.

It’s to give you the level of support that makes sense for your situation.

This may be the right starting point if…

  • Your concerns extend beyond one specific issue.
  • You have multiple symptoms or health considerations you’d like to look at together.
  • You’ve accumulated labs, supplements, dietary changes, or other recommendations and aren’t sure how they fit together.
  • You want a broader nutrition and wellness assessment rather than a gut-specific evaluation.
  • You’re looking for help prioritizing rather than another giant list of things to fix.
  • You want someone who will consider the whole picture while staying within a clearly defined scope.

What if the bigger picture leads us back to the gut?

That’s okay.

The Comprehensive Evaluation doesn’t mean we ignore your gut. It means we don’t assume your gut is the only place we need to look.

If digestive health becomes an important priority, we can incorporate that into your plan. If your situation ultimately calls for deeper, longer-term gut-focused work, we can discuss whether The Gut Lab is an appropriate next step.

You don’t have to choose the perfect service before you’ve told me what’s going on.

A note about my role

I’m a Holistic Nutrition Professional, not a licensed medical provider. I don’t diagnose, treat, or cure disease.

My role is to provide individualized nutrition and wellness education and support within my scope. I can help you make sense of nutritional patterns, prioritize practical changes, and determine what questions may be worth bringing to your healthcare team.

When something requires medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, or another type of specialized care, I’ll encourage you to work with the appropriate provider.

I don’t work in isolation from your medical care. When appropriate, I value coordination with the practitioners already involved in your care.

Not sure whether you need a Comprehensive or Gut Health Discovery Evaluation?

You don’t have to figure that out on your own.

Start with What’s Up With My Gut? and we’ll talk through what’s going on and which starting point makes the most sense.
